    Q. Why should I join - what are the benefits?
    A. You will get the satisfaction of knowing you are helping to promote folk music and dance in the Madison area! But that's not all!
    You ALSO get these perks:

      *  CONCERT DISCOUNTS: Members get a $1 discount off the door price of all Mad Folk concerts/events. (If you join at the family level, the discount applies to all members of your family!)
      *  NEWSLETTER SUBSCRIPTION: Members receive a one-year subscription to Mad Folk News, including the regular "Refrigerator Cover" calendar of folk/acoustic music events and other news/articles of interest to lovers of folk music and dance. A regular feature of the newsletter is the ever-popular Whither Zither column, written by Peter Berryman, the male half of Madison's own Lou and Peter Berryman. Back issues of his very entertaining and informative columns can be found at members.aol.com/wzither/.

    Q. What time of year should I join - what is your "membership year?"
    A. ANYTIME is a good time to join!!!!
Memberships are now on an individual subscription-year basis, so regardless of the time of year when you first join Mad Folk, you'll get a full year of Mad Folk News. When you renew before your expiration date or within a brief grace period, your membership will be extended one year from the original expiration date. If your membership lapses (and newsletter is discontinued for one month or more) and then you send in a renewal, your membership year will be reset to start the month your subscription is started up again.

    Q. How do I join and how can I pay?
    A.
You can print a form to fill in by hand and mail with a check, or you can use the new online dues payment option if you want to save a stamp or use a credit/debit card for your dues payment....see the links in the red and blue boxes above.

    Q. I'm already a member...How do I know when to renew?
    A. PLEASE NOTE: We do NOT send renewal mailings (it keeps our costs down, and therefore keeps yours dues cost down also)...BUT your Mad Folk News issue shows your expiration date on the label and includes a reminder when it is time to renew. There is a brief grace period, but be sure to renew promptly to ensure you don't miss any newsletters or other info. If it's time for you to renew and you don't want to cut up your newsletter, No worries...you can renew online now (as of fall 2007) via a secure transaction using PayPal, or print a membership form to fill out by hand and mail in.

    Q. How much does membership cost?
    A. Our very modest membership dues cover the cost of producing and mailing our monthly newsletter and help defray concert expeneses.

Mad Folk is a nonprofit organization, and your membership dues are a tax-deductible contribution. Your dues payment helps us to defray the cost of event expenses. You may designate its use.
You can choose your membership amount from these membership levels:

    • Individual (regular): $12 per year
    • Family: $15 per year
    • Student: $10 per year
    • Senior: $8 per year
    • Friend: $25 per year
    • Contributing: $50
    • Lifetime member: $500
    • Other gift amounts welcome!

    Q. What happens after I submit my membership?
    A.
You will receive an acknowledgment for your membership either by email or by U.S. mail depending on what you specify. Your newsletter subscription will begin by mail with the next full month.
