The Up Past Their Bedtime Players

Presented by Kiki's House of Righteous Music

Those of you with young kids with good musical taste know all about Justin Roberts and the Not Ready for Naptime Players. What you may not know is that Roberts, along with his rhythm section of Liam Davis and Gerald Dowd, also have songs for grown-ups. The three of them will be doing a songwriters in the round thing at the House of Righteous Music on Saturday March 3 in advance of their kids show the next day at the High Noon. I like to call them the Up Past Their Bedtime Players and it will be pretty terrific. I also highly recommend the show at the High Noon, even if you don't have kids, the songs are great and the High Noon staff makes a great Bloody Mary. It will be the only way you'll get to hear "Henrietta's Hair."

** BYOB and I'll have coolers with ice available.**

Charlie King and Karen BrandowCharlie King and Karen Brandow

Presented by Mike & Carol

From Charlie: "We've been touring for the past year with a new CD, The Distance Remaining. It shows a little more heart, a little less satire than it's predecessors from the Bush years. It traces a progression from the optimism of the Obama campaign into an edgier resolve at how hard real change-making turns out to be. Songs we've been writing & learning since get their energy from the wake up call best typified in this country by the Madison Uprising and Occupy Wall St. And with the arrival of our first grandchild, we're taking a more careful focus on the future of the planet in the shadow of war & climate change.

In 2012 we'll be touring with a one-hour performance piece that recreates in story, song & projected images of the great Bread & Roses strike of Lawrence MA. 100 years ago in our home state of Massachusetts immigrant labor took on the robber barons & won. If anybody has an idea where to perform this in Madison (school, library, union hall etc) we'd be happy to consider any invitations."
